Maison MALINGRE TRUCHON

The Malingre Truchon estate is a family-run property located in the heart of the Massif de Saint-Thierry, near Reims.

Prouilly is a village located in the Marne department, 13 km northwest of Reims. It has 560 inhabitants, known as “Prouillousiens”. Despite its small population, there are no fewer than 50 winegrowers cultivating 130 hectares of vineyards!

A land of invasions and migrations, generations of winegrowers have created a unique alchemy between soil, climate, grape varieties, and a highly original winemaking process, thus achieving, after centuries of research, Champagne.

In turn, Agnès and Etienne Malingre perpetuate this tradition to offer this prestigious wine directly from their maison.

The family has been present in Prouilly for nearly 400 years. Claude Malingre, born in 1633, was a farmer and winegrower.

For a long time, the estate’s vineyards produced a light red wine, exported to the North and Flanders. In 1860, Gabriel Malingre cultivated 2 hectares of vines in a disordered and uneven style.

Unfortunately, phylloxera, downy mildew, competition from wines from Southern France, then the First World War and the crisis of the 1930s decimated wine production.

In 1960, Jacques Malingre, Etienne’s father, began producing Champagne. Today, 6 hectares of vines across 32 plots are cultivated with the utmost respect for the soil and the environment.

The nature of the terroir guided the selection of the most suitable grape varieties: Pinot Meunier represents 68% of the estate’s grapes, Pinot Noir 20%, and Chardonnay occupies 12% of the vineyards.

This champagne is a tribute to the symbolic grape variety of the Massif de Saint-Thierry: Pinot Meunier.

Only grape parcels over 40 years old, with very limited yields, are part of the composition of this exceptional cuvée.

100% Pinot Meunier harvested in 2019.

Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in steel. Vinification is performed using malolactic fermentation. Minimum 36 months on the lees and at least 3 months of rest after disgorgement in June 2025.
