LORENZO ACCOMASSO Pochi Filagn Barbera d’Alba 2021
CAV. LORENZO ACCOMASSO
Cavalier Lorenzo Accomasso is the soul of wine, calm and indissoluble.
Already in the early 1970s he was pruning the vines short and throwing down the first bunches while still green during the sultry August afternoons, in secret so his mother wouldn’t see. She had indeed worked hard on these hills so that the shoots would be laden with grapes.
Today he produces ancient Barolos, but with a young and spirited soul and a long, intense breath that emerges slowly.
His first public appearance took place in September 1966 during the village festivities: in the wine exhibition appeared his first label of Barolo 1958, the year of his first vinification.
The cellar is located on the curve of the provincial road leading to La Morra.
This is a wine that comes from long macerations of forty days or more, as his father Giovanni had taught him, which matures more slowly and is ready to challenge the years.
Lorenzo Accomasso’s estate is not large, just over three hectares of vineyard within a short radius around the house and cellar. It is family-run: there is Lorenzo and there was Elena, his sister in charge of sales, who already in the 1970s welcomed tourists: the first wine woman of La Morra, who passed away in 2016.
The Barolo in which the Accomassos have always believed comes from the Rocchette. This is a small plot in the middle of the Rocche dell’Annunziata.
Cavalier Lorenzo is a prominent figure in La Morra; after having been its administrator during the rebirth, he was president of the Cantina Comunale for more than twenty years. Today he is its honorary president.
In total about ten thousand bottles which under normal conditions are released a year later, other times they don’t come out at all.

Tasting notes
LORENZO ACCOMASSO Pochi Filagn Barbera d’Alba 2021. Impenetrable garnet color with ruby reflections; the nose is intense, with warm aromas of ripe and preserved fruits such as cherry and plum. A bouquet of dried flowers accompanies a long, spicy finish with the signature earthy dark note. On the palate it is a true explosion, great structure and beautiful tannin are supported by a great acidic vein. Warm and very long finish.
