THE MAISON
MOUSSÉ FILS
The Moussé family descends from 12 generations of winegrowers since 1629, in Cuisles, in the heart of the Marne Valley where the vineyards are distributed across 4 different villages, but all on the same slope: an unusual characteristic that is reflected in all its champagnes.
Thanks to the importance the estate places on environmental care (it was in fact the first in Champagne to use geothermal heating) and its presence in the territory, one can say that this estate is the reflection of the Cuisles terroir.
In 1923 Eugène Moussé, Cédric’s great-grandfather, was the first to produce a champagne under his own name. In 2000 Cédric, having just graduated from the agricultural high school in Avize, began gaining various experiences, among which the most significant was at the experimental winery of the CIVC, Comité Interprofessionnel des Vins de Champagne.
In 2003 he was offered the opportunity to manage this winery, a prestigious opportunity for a young man like him, but Cédric decided to return to the Maison and work with his father, Jean-Marc. “From 2003 to 2007, says Cédric, my father asked me to take care of the vineyards, he didn’t want me in the cellar! Cuisles and the neighbouring villages are unique and I lacked an understanding of those different terroirs.” In 2007 father and son (Moussé Fils) built their new winery: “The most important aspect was respect for nature. 70% of the water used comes from a spring and is heated using solar panels. Half of the winery is underground and an automatic geothermal system maintains a constant temperature of 12 degrees. We have the first winery in Champagne to have used this system.”
The historic label created over 90 years ago by Eugène Moussé – Cedric’s grandfather – and now a true icon of the Cuisle territory, in the heart of the Marne.
Intense fruit on the nose and palate, elegance and finesse make it a champagne with enchanting and captivating drinkability.
CHAMPAGNE L’EXTRA OR BLANC DE NOIRS EXTRA BRUT
LE CHAMPAGNE DES VIGNERONS
L’Extra Or Degorgement Tardif is a late-release version of L’Or d’Eugène. Like L’Or D’Eugène, the house blend produced with reserve wines from 2003 to 2014 was used, and updated each year with 50% of the new harvest. It remains 60 months on the lees.
This demonstrates how the house’s Meunier wines can age magnificently, while maintaining their freshness. Perfecting the art of cultivating Pinot Meunier and bringing it to the apex of its potential is the maison’s guiding principle.
