THE WINERY PRODUTTORI DEL BARBARESCO

Founded in 1958, it now has 50 members with vineyard holdings that in 2020 reached 783 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards and controls most of the historic crus of the area. Produttori del Barbaresco vinifies only Nebbiolo grapes, producing a Barbaresco D.O.C.G. from grapes from different vineyards in the appellation, and a Nebbiolo Langhe D.O.C. with grapes from the same vineyards deemed less suitable for producing an age-worthy wine, simpler and ready to drink.

In great vintages, 9 Barbarescos from specific vineyards are produced and marketed as Barbaresco Riserva: Asili, Rabajà, Rio Sordo, Ovello, Montestefano, Pajé, Muncagota, Montefico, Pora, areas long renowned for producing grapes of exceptional quality. Since the 2007 vintage, they have been officially recognized by the production regulations as “Additional Geographic Mentions.” The name of the Cru and the vineyard owners are shown on the numbered labels.

Vineyard: Rio Sordo

The Barbaresco Riserva “Rio Sordo” from Produttori del Barbaresco is an elegant red wine of great aromatic complexity, with balanced tannins, intense and structured, produced on the magnificent and captivating hills of Barbaresco in Piedmont. This label is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes from the Rio Sordo cru; a single vineyard situated on a west, south-west facing hillside at approximately 250 metres altitude.

Rio Sordo is particularly appealing after a certain period of ageing, when the wine still retains a fruity and fresh palate.

Vinification:

Fermentation in stainless steel at 30°C, 28 days maceration on the skins, malolactic fermentation completed

Ageing: in 25-50 hl oak casks for a minimum of 30 months

Total production: 10,000 bottles
