MASSOLINO Langhe Nebbiolo 2023

THE WINERY – MASSOLINO

-Family-

The first cellar was built by Giuseppe, son of the founder Giovanni, who together with his sister Angela extended the estate into the finest lands and in 1934 was among the founders of the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo e Barbaresco. At the time, Giuseppe’s family included six children. Three of them, Giovanni, Camilla, and Renato, would follow in their father’s footsteps, transforming the company with the purchase of crus that are true jewels: Margheria, Parafada, and Vigna Rionda.

Since the 1990s, Franco and Roberto, both oenologists, have also worked at the winery; in 2006, they purchased another of the estate’s fundamental vineyards in the Parussi cru in Castiglione Falletto, and in 2015, they completed the construction of the new cellar in Serralunga d’Alba. Their work condenses the experience of an entire family and the ambition of a new generation, determined to make a significant contribution to the innovation of oenological and agronomic techniques and to the company’s image in Italy and abroad.

-Philosophy-

Making wine with passion, in its territory of origin, preserving the typicality of the native grape variety in the belief that a deep and palpable bond exists between the vines, the hills, and the winemakers, made of affinities cemented by a shared history in the same places. Since 1896, the Massolino family has produced wine this way, faithful to this philosophy and the ability to innovate in the name of tradition.
Ultimately, remaining true to itself.

LANGHE NEBBIOLO

TASTING NOTES
  • Appearance: garnet red with variable intensity depending on the vintage.
  • Nose: delicate and pleasant, with predominant notes of raspberry and violet; with aging, secondary aromas very similar to those of Barolo emerge.
  • Palate: a wine that, thanks to its elegance, compensates for its lighter structure compared to its older brother Barolo, presenting itself as complete and with a captivating harmony.
Decanting is recommended, to be served at a temperature of 18-20°C.

A wine for the whole meal, it is best expressed when paired with rich and flavorful dishes; from fresh pasta with rich meat or vegetable sauces to red meat dishes, grilled or roasted. Excellent also with cheeses, from soft to delicate blue varieties.

  • Vinification and aging: a classic wine, produced with medium-duration fermentation and maceration (8-10 days), similar to those of Barolo. It ages in traditional barrels for over 1 year. Throughout its production cycle, the utmost attention is paid to every detail to provide elegance and softness to a young Nebbiolo.
