THE MASCIARELLI WINERY
Roots in the territory
MASCIARELLI Tenute Agricole was established in 1981 from the entrepreneurial intuition of Gianni Masciarelli, a symbolic figure in the Italian wine scene and a protagonist in the affirmation of modern Abruzzo viticulture. The beating heart of the winery is San Martino sulla Marrucina, in the province of Chieti, and it owns vineyards and olive groves across the 4 provinces of Abruzzo.
Wine production – accompanied by a small production of extra virgin olive oil – now includes 18 labels and 5 product lines: Linea Classica, Gianni Masciarelli, Villa Gemma, Marina Cvetic, and Castello di Semivicoli.
In the spirit of constant and renewed work towards innovation while respecting the environment and tradition, the Masciarelli company inaugurated, after a long conservative restoration, the Castello di Semivicoli, a seventeenth-century baronial palace now a relais de charme among the vineyards, the driving force of wine tourism in the area.
COLLINE TEATINE CHARDONNAY
Marina Cvetic
At the “heart” of the Masciarelli story. The product line bearing her name was born in 1991 from the private and professional bond between Gianni and Marina. Comprising 6 references, the Marina Cvetic line is characterized by the presence of pure international grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay) alongside Montepulciano and Trebbiano. The interpretation offered is original and full of character: structured and elegant, Marina Cvetic wines are a “distinctive voice” for the most demanding and sophisticated palates.
The first international Chardonnay vineyard planted by Masciarelli in Abruzzo, in the municipalities of Bucchianico and San Martino sulla Marrucina, near the Majella, is influenced by the powerful effects of the sea and mountains, which contribute to the grapes’ full phenolic maturity. On the nose, floral hints of broom and jasmine and fruity notes of medlar. Very savory and almost buttery on the palate, with fleshy tropical fruit creating a true sense of texture. A significant acidity leads to a long finish.
