Barbaresco Martinenga Marchesi di Gresy 2018
Martinenga Vineyard
Martinenga is undoubtedly the most important vineyard. It is in fact the estate’s main headquarters.
It comprises twelve hectares arranged in a splendid natural amphitheater. This faces south over the hills of Barbaresco and, to the west, the Tanaro river. The perfect exposure, microclimate complexity and particular soil composition – rich in tuff and blue marls of the Langhe – bestow upon the wines produced here unparalleled harmony and elegance, even in the most challenging vintages.
We are in the heart of the Barbaresco DOCG production area. Martinenga represents its most important and recognized MGA (Additional Geographic Mention).

One vineyard, three expressions of Barbaresco.
The Martinenga terroir is extraordinarily multifaceted. Moreover, the Nebbiolo grape has the sensitivity to “read” with precision the soil in which it is planted. For this reason, the natural diversity of our sinuous vineyard has been honored. Indeed, within it two further selections have been identified: Gaiun and Camp Gros, which from opposite ends of the amphitheater give life to the highest expressions of Martinenga.
All Barbaresco DOCG production marketed under the name “Martinenga” has been the exclusive property of the family since 1797 and today constitutes the only vinification monopoly in the entire area.
Varieties cultivated: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc.
