The family

Giuseppe Mascarello began the family’s independent business in 1881 in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, purchasing a plot in the Pian della Polvere region.

The Story

Nebbiolo has been the symbolic and most prized grape variety of the Alba Langhe since time immemorial. When paired with a highly suited terroir, it reaches sublime levels, producing wines of distinct personality, intense aromas, velvety tannins, and exceptional aging potential.

The Giuseppe Mascarello family has been involved in viticulture for over a century and a half, first as estate managers for Marchesa Giulia Colbert Faletti of Barolo at Cascina Manescotto in La Morra, and then, towards the end of the 1800s, on their own.

BARBERA D’ALBA SCUDETTO

GIUSEPPE MASCARELLO Scudetto Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2022. The Barbera d’Alba “Scudetto” from the Giuseppe Mascarello winery is a fruity and remarkably fresh red wine produced in the Perno hamlet of Monforte d’Alba.

• Vinification: Our selected grapes, traditional fermentation 12/14 days with floating cap. The wine is then aged in medium-capacity oak barrels for several months depending on the vintage or stabilized in inert containers.
• Tasting notes:
  Color: Intense ruby red with garnet highlights
  Nose: Fruity with ripe grapes, then vinous, intense and characteristic
  Palate: Backbone and texture, excellent body, balanced, characteristic.
• Food pairing: Red and white meats, fresh and spicy cheeses, cured meats, first courses.
