In 2015, after careful evaluation and meticulous work, Laura finalized and inaugurated the new winery at Podernovone. Located on the southeastern slopes of Montalcino and surrounded by four and a half hectares of vines, it was designed to be simple and practical, with a low energy and environmental impact, seeking to minimize the carbon footprint through solar energy and the use of gravity.
The building is constructed of stone using the traditional Etruscan “Cocciopesto” method, which allows it to breathe. An underground corridor surrounds the building to provide thermal insulation and maintain stable temperature and humidity throughout the seasons. Podernovone is a winery that combines technology, tradition, and sustainability.

The art of the labels

The artwork on our labels is titled “Elvira with a hat,” created by Harvard economist and painter Richard M. Goodwin. Richard was a regular at Osteria Le Logge and a dear friend of Gianni and Laura. He often admired Elvira, Gianni’s mother, who ran the kitchen at Le Logge at the time; she served as the muse for this portrait. To this day, “Elvira with a hat” hangs at the entrance of Osteria Le Logge.

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA

In great vintages, a selection of the finest Sangiovese is destined to become the Riserva. With very low yields and prolonged aging, it offers wines of great balance, richness, and elegance, with exceptional aging potential.

2012 Vintage

The 2012 vintage was characterized by medium-warm temperatures and very little rain. A particularly hot summer required meticulous work in the vineyard to maintain the balance of the vines, keeping them strong and healthy to yield sound, balanced grapes.

The wine has an intense ruby color with delicate floral notes, accompanied by a broad spectrum of small red fruits, tobacco, and licorice. The palate is accented with rich flavors of cherries and plums, showing a tannic yet elegant structure.

Cellar for a few years to enjoy its remarkable potential for further complexity through 2040.
