CANTINA TERLANO Pinot Bianco Tradition 2022
CANTINA TERLANO Pinot Bianco Tradition 2022
WINERY – CANTINA TERLANO
Founded in 1893, the Cantina Terlano winery is now one of the leading wine growers’ cooperatives in South Tyrol, with a current membership of 143 growers working a total area of 190 hectares. That is the equivalent of some 1.5 million bottles of wine a year. We and our members have long had a strong focus on quality. That has attracted praise and recognition on the Italian and international wine markets, and in spite of its relatively small size, Cantina Terlano is now well established in the world of wine.
Organizational structure
Cantina Terlano is a cooperative, with Georg Eyrl as Chairman and Hansjörg Hafner as his deputy. The Board, which was elected for three years at the end of 2020, has the following members: Anton Adami, Norbert Elsler, Ulrike Gratl, Hans-Peter Höller, Stefan Sandrini, Robert Müller, Christoph Patauner, Elmar Pichler, Konrad Rauch, Manfred Runer and Georg Spitaler.
PINOT BIANCO TRADITION
Vintage wines made from typical traditional varieties of Alto Adige grapes, with multilayered aromas, structure, complexity and density.

Vinification
Manual harvest and selection of the grapes; gentle pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation; slow fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, aging on the lees in steel tanks for 6-7 months.
Vintage
The year began with a very dry and mild winter. A cool spring slightly delayed vine budding, but the normal growth cycle was restored by a very warm and sunny May. The first vines flowered on the earliest sites in the middle of the month, and the fine weather then led to a rapid flowering process. On the higher sites, flowering was finished by the beginning of June. Due to an exceptionally hot and dry summer, there were few problems with fungal attack, but the lack of rainfall pushed the vines to their limits in some cases. Rainfall and thunderstorms at the end of July and beginning of August put an end to the lack of water, thus averting drought stress and related quality problems and generating the comforting prospect of an early harvest. Harvesting began on August 24 on the earliest sites. The result was fully ripe and extremely healthy grapes with slightly reduced levels of acidity.
Wine description
- Color: Clear pale yellow with a slight greenish shimmer.
- Smell: On the nose this classic Pinot Bianco scores with crisp notes of apple and pear mingling with aromas of raspberry and lime, plus a touch of camomile and lemon grass to round off the composition.
- Taste: Body and balance sum up the Pinot Bianco, which intrigues the palate with the fruit of the pear and quince aromas combined with a salty minerality. The wine tickles the tongue and goes on to deliver a persistent aftertaste.
