Barbera d’Asti DOCG La Turna 2017 Bel Sit
BEL SIT
The Bel Sit company was founded in 1870 and for 6 generations belonged to the Rivella family.
From the spring of the year 2019 it belongs to Andrea and Gianpiero Scavino that have revealed the property but also the passion and production techniques.
Andrea and Gianpiero have been producers since 1996 and that is since they inherited the quota of the father Giancarlo of the agricultural society “I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano”, historic company for the production of Moscato d’Asti in the municipality of S Stefano Belbo.
The Bel Sit company is located halfway up a shaped hill of amphitheater exposed to South-West, than from the municipality of Castagnole delle Lanze overlooking the Langhe.
In this company in the 60s, the production of the Barbera that bore the name was born of the common “Barbera di Castagnole delle Lanze”.
The perfect exposure allows for complete maturation and consequently particularly complex but still fine and elegant wines.
…philosophy of production…
“Bel Sit” is located halfway up a natural amphitheatre facing south-west in the little town of Castagnole Lanze, which overlooks the Langhe hills. Atop the hill on a clear day, you can see the framework of mountains that protect it.
Our philosophy is one of restraint and pursuit of the purest expression of our terroir. Ezio’s approach to work in the cellar is definitely “minimalist” in nature, the primary technological features dedicated to temperature control. This works in tandem with the natural phenomena that occur in wine to preserve the quality conferred by the grapes. The traditional production cycle does not include any type of filtration and clarification, rather a series of decantations that naturally clarify the wine. The wines of “Bel Sit” offer a glimpse into the memories of Ezio Rivella’s youth. They tell a story, one of vigor and accomplishment, and of a long family history in a land perfectly tailored to create Barbera wines.
BARBERA LA TURNA
La Turna is one of the best expressions of Barbera d’Asti Docg vintage present in the Asti area. It comes from the transformation of grapes produced in vineyards located on a mainly calcareous-sandy soil, therefore suited to bestowing fine wine aromas.
Colour: Intense ruby red with light violet reflections.
Bouquet: Cherries and raspberries, with black fruits and floral notes.
Taste: Rich with ripe forest fruit, velvety and warm but very well balanced with pleasant acidity and fine tannins. A long and elegant finish makes this wine enticing glass after glass.
Food Pairings: Versatility at table and a moderate alcohol content make La Turna ideal for everyday consumption. It’s pleasant, rich, and fruity, with endless possible pairings from antipasti to beautiful Piemontese pasta dishes.
