Bourgogne

Burgundy

Bourgogne Rouge are still red wines produced with the generic Bourgogne appellation.

Pinot Noir is the predominant grape used.

Terroir

There are Burgundy wines produced from vineyards without a more specific title for the location.

Bourgogne Rouge wine can be made from grapes grown in one (or more) of 300 municipalities across Burgundy.

In the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits sub-regions (surface mainly concentrated on the lower slopes of the Côte d’Or escarpment and on the plain beyond it) the most prestigious Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines are produced.

In the highest vineyards of the Côte d’Or you have the right to use the most renowned titles Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Hautes Côtes de Nuits.
