-ORGANIC WINE-

This process—complex only at first glance—is, to us, the most natural one.

Wine is the offspring of the land where the vine was cultivated; once in the cellar, it must be nurtured every step of the way, like a member of the family.
Our wine is one of us.

THE CONTERNO FANTINO ESTATE

The Conterno Fantino estate, founded in 1982 by Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino, currently cultivates 27 hectares of vineyards planted with four grape varieties—Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Chardonnay—and produces 140,000 bottles annually. Over time, Alda, Fabio, and Elisa Fantino have joined the two founders, taking on various roles; Noemi and Matteo Conterno are set to follow suit. In addition, the estate employs about ten full-time staff members.

CONTERNO FANTINO Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda 2019. Environmental sustainability, the preservation of biodiversity, and respect for the land and its heritage serve as the guiding principles for the management of the vineyards, which are cultivated entirely according to organic farming practices (certified by CCPB). To further reduce their environmental footprint, the winery’s expansion in 2008 incorporated various techniques focused on energy conservation and the use of renewable energy sources—including a geothermal system, the installation of solar panels, and, notably, a phytodepuration (natural water purification) system for wastewater.

The Conterno Fantino winery approaches its wines with a primary focus on identity: from the careful manual selection of grape clusters and harvesting in crates, to the preservation of the vineyards’ characteristic aromas, spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts, the judicious use of wood for aging, and minimal use of sulfites, all the way through to bottle refinement.
