The “Bionzo” wine comes from 100% Barbera grapes, from vines aged between 62 and 72 years planted in the municipality of Costigliole d’Asti. The age of the vines suggests the Rivetti family’s production philosophy, which prioritizes the quality of the fruit over quantity and the enhancement of old vines. No pesticides or herbicides are used in the vineyard for sustainable agriculture. The harvest takes place between late September and early October, with careful sorting of the grapes. Alcoholic fermentation lasts 6-7 days in temperature-controlled roto-fermenters, while malolactic fermentation is carried out in small French oak barrels. Aging takes place for 18 months in entirely new barriques with a medium toast. After a further 6 months in stainless steel, the liquid is bottled and rested for 6 months in glass.

The Barbera “Bionzo” combines richness of fruit with a sip of pure velvet, thanks to the modern interpretation given to it by the Rivetti family.

More than 40 years of history, where constant research and qualitative growth have led La Spinetta to become a benchmark for a well-recognizable production style.

Naturally, space is given to talented local varieties, with an alternation of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Moscato, and a small planting of Chardonnay, which here in Langa has proven to give life to excellent wines.

The Rivetti family can therefore be considered tireless, having gradually acquired plots in the most prestigious Piedmontese municipalities, namely those of Barolo and Barbaresco, reaching the current size of 100 hectares.

Maximum attention to the use of chemicals in the vineyard, and no filtration or clarification, complete the picture of what is today one of the most interesting wineries in the Langa landscape.
