TREDIBERRI Langhe Nebbiolo 2024
The Trediberri Winery
Berri is a small hamlet in the westernmost part of La Morra, close to the Tanaro river and thus at the far west of the Barolo zone. There, in 2007, Nicola, his father Federico, and their friend Vladimiro purchased 5 hectares destined for the exclusive production of Barolo. The Trediberri winery was born, meaning the “three from Berri.” Nicola Oberto is a force of nature: born in 1985, he appears as a seasoned winemaker with very clear ideas, thanks also to his father Federico, who collaborated for years with Renato Ratti and Massimo Martinelli.
On the market since 2011, they now vinify 8 hectares of vineyards: in addition to the 5 hectares in the Berri cru, they own about 2 hectares in the Rocche dell’Annunziata and Torriglione crus – where they produce Barolo, Barbera, and Sauvignon Blanc – and rent about one hectare of Nebbiolo for Barolo in the Capalot cru, also in La Morra. Farming is highly sustainable, despite the decision to forgo certification due to limits imposed on the use of copper.
The winery is now noted not only for wines of rare quality but also for an unmistakable style that enhances the vineyards of origin and the most intriguing characteristics of La Morra.
A young, artisanal, family-run winery, without coats of arms featuring prancing horses or unfurled flags. They have no history, but that is fine: they speak of the present through their wines.
Langhe Nebbiolo DOC
Vinification
Vinification of grapes mostly from the municipalities of La Morra and Levice, with a small portion from Vicoforte and Monticello d’Alba. Alcoholic fermentation takes place mostly in concrete and partly in steel (depending on the vintage) and lasts about 10-12 days. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in concrete or steel and cold stabilization outdoors or in temperature-controlled steel tanks. After stabilization, the wine continues aging for a few months in concrete, steel, or fiberglass before being bottled, usually between April and May of the year following the harvest.
Tasting Notes
A red that is not made to amaze, but to convince, without the use of spicy wood or exaggerated extractions.
A Nebbiolo to drink in company, without asking too many questions. Fresh and unoaked, fruity, extremely drinkable, but not mundane. Refined and juicy. We recommend drinking it chilled, perhaps with a platter of cold cuts or a nice plate of tajarin with ragù.
