ROAGNA Barbaresco Albesani 2019
Barbaresco Albesani 2019
THE ROAGNA WINERY
The winery originated in Barbaresco. Since the second half of the 1800s, four generations of the family have worked in the cellar. Several awards won by the great-grandfather date back to the early 1900s.
In the History of Don Michele Del Pero, Archpriest of Barbaresco from 1889 to 1935, two gold medals are mentioned: one obtained at the Exhibition of the Principality of Monaco and the other at the Last Chicago Exhibition.
In February 1952, the family decided to purchase and rebuild the prestigious I Paglieri (Pajè) farmhouse in Barbaresco. Subsequently, in 1978, the corporate brand was created, the winery’s current logo.
In 1982, the inspiration of the new father gave rise to Opera Prima. In 1989, the company purchased the historic La Pira farmhouse in the Rocche of Castiglione Falletto: Alfredo’s dream was, in fact, to own one of the most important “crus” in the Barolo area. Since 2001, after finishing his studies at the Enological School of Alba, Luca joined the company.
BARBARESCO ALBESANI
ROAGNA Barbaresco Albesani 2019. Located at 240 m a.s.l., the plot stands on the highest part of the hill, bordering Santo Stefano. The soil, rich in active limestone, ensures structured wines.
In this plot, we cultivate old Nebbiolo vines, approximately 50 years old. The vines are exclusively of massal origin.
In 2007, the Albesani vineyard obtained the MGA, Additional Geographical Mention.
