Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2017
– THE COMPANY – BRUNO GIACOSA –
Bruno Giacosa, born in 1929, represents the third generation of the Giacosa family, which has always been active in the wine sector. A precursor of the times, he was one of the first to vinify Barbaresco in 1967, specifying the crù on the label, that is the geographical mention of the grapes’ origin and has earned the title of undisputed “master” of great quality enology in the field. In 2006, the company passed on to her daughter Bruna Giacosa who followed her teachings with an eye to modernity.
The vine growing and wine making processes are followed through with care from beginning to end, culminating with vinification and ageing within cellars in Neive. The story starts in a simple way, with the native varietals of the Langa and Roero regions and vineyards cultivated with loving care. It continues with pure, meticulous vinification, with ageing in grand oak barrels and with unforgettable Reserves. But it also includes, naturally enough, the choice not to bottle those mediocre vintages deemed unworthy of vinification.
