MASSOLINO Vigna Rionda Riserva Barolo 2019
MASSOLINO Vigna Rionda Riserva Barolo 2019
VIGNA RIONDA WINERY – MASSOLINO
The Vigna Rionda Winery of the Massolino family was founded in the late 19th century and takes its name from the prestigious vineyard of which it owns a significant portion. Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda is special: a privilege, a source of pride, a symbol, and a great wine.
Franco and Roberto Massolino’s philosophy is very simple: respect the characteristics of each individual vineyard and maintain the personality of the grape variety in the glass, seeking to improve with new technologies and innovative systems while remaining rooted in tradition.
Vigna Rionda is a place from which to draw raw material of exceptional quality, historically guaranteeing a better price from grape brokers compared to other slopes.
BAROLO RISERVA VIGNA RIONDA
Massolino’s Barolo Vigna Rionda is all this and showcases it with every release, with the balance and flavor of a champion.
Brothers Franco and Roberto Massolino have been offering us wines of extraordinary class and substance for years. First produced in 1982, Massolino’s Vigna Rionda represents the estate’s flagship wine.
It is produced with Nebbiolo grapes from the “Vigna Rionda” vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba.
It is the traditional Barolo par excellence with fermentation and maceration of 25-30 days at a temperature ranging between 31 and 33°C. Aged for a total of 6 years, including 3.5 years in 30 hl Slavonian oak casks and 2.5 years in bottle.
Vinification:
Traditional vinification brings out the best qualities of this cru, respecting its natural predisposition for long aging. Barolo Vigna Rionda indeed expresses its finest characteristics with the passage of time.
Producing wine with passion, in its territory of origin, preserving the typicity of the native grape variety: since 1896, the Massolino family has been making wine this way, faithful to this philosophy and to the ability to innovate within the framework of tradition—ultimately, faithful to itself.
Total annual production does not exceed 90,000 bottles.
Tasting notes
Color: deep garnet red.
Aroma: evolves from very intense floral notes in the early years to the characteristic “goudron” of aging through multiple, always evocative aromas.
Taste: powerful, admirably embodying the essential characteristics of Barolo wine such as great structure, excellent alcohol concentration, and tannins that guarantee very long aging.
Decanting is recommended and serve at a temperature of 18-20° C.
It possesses the characteristic balsamic power, dense tannins, and compact structure of Vigna Rionda, here in a more welcoming and approachable version, with a beautiful fruit sweetness and a savory finish that invites another sip
