THE FAMILY – MARCHESI ANTINORI

-A passion passed down through 26 generations-

The Antinori family has been dedicated to wine production for more than six hundred years: since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri. Throughout its long history, across 26 generations, the family has always directly managed this activity with innovative and sometimes courageous choices, while always maintaining unwavering respect for tradition and terroir.

Today the company is chaired by Albiera Antinori, with the support of her two sisters Allegra and Alessia, personally involved in the business activities. Their father, Marchese Piero Antinori, is currently the Honorary President of the company. Tradition, passion and intuition have been the driving qualities that have led the Marchesi Antinori to establish themselves as one of the leading Italian producers of high-quality wines.

-Ancient Roots-

Every vintage, every terroir, every idea is a new beginning, a new pursuit of ever higher quality standards. As Marchese Piero likes to say: “ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit.”

TENUTA TIGNANELLO CHIANTI CLASSICO

A historic wine from the Antinori estate which, since the 2011 vintage, has been produced with grapes from the Tignanello estate. It is composed almost entirely of Sangiovese grapes combined with a small proportion of other complementary varieties. A wine that presents itself as the full expression of the quality and elegance of Sangiovese from this area.

-Tenuta Tignanello-

Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the gentle hills nestled between the Greve and Pesa valleys, and extends over 319 hectares of land, with approximately 130 hectares under vine. Among its vineyards, two treasures: the Tignanello vineyard and the Solaia vineyard, which extend on the same hill, on soils derived from Pliocene marine marls with limestone and schist, and enjoy warm days and cool nights during the growing season.

-2023 Vintage-

The 2023 growing season in Chianti Classico began with a moderately cold and dry winter, particularly in the final part of March, favoring regular budbreak of the vines. From the end of April until the second half of June, the climate was generally cool and rainy, while the summer, typically warm, dry and without particular heat peaks, favored an excellent vegetative-productive balance of the plants. The moderate rains of August and the regular seasonal pattern of September and October allowed the grapes to begin and complete the ripening process optimally; the harvest began in mid-September with Sangiovese and ended in early October with the Cabernets.

Tasting Notes

  • Marchese Antinori presents a ruby red color.
  • On the nose, intense notes of morello cherry, violet and lavender alternate with subtle blood-like sensations, typical of Sangiovese, and spicy hints of tobacco and leather; delicate notes of vanilla and cocoa powder complete the bouquet.
  • On the palate, it is enveloping, full, with excellent compactness of the tannic structure and good vibrancy that make it long and persistent. Excellent aftertaste characterized by red fruits and licorice.
