MARCHESI ANTINORI
A passion passed down through 26 generations
The Antinori family has been dedicated to winemaking for over six hundred years: ever since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always managed the business directly with innovative and sometimes courageous choices, while consistently maintaining respect for tradition and the land.
Ancient Roots
Every vintage, every terroir, every idea is a new beginning, a new pursuit of ever higher quality standards. As Marchese Piero likes to say: “ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit.”
Tenuta Guado al Tasso
Tenuta Guado al Tasso is located in the small and prestigious Bolgheri DOC, on the coast of the Upper Maremma, about one hundred kilometers southwest of Florence. This appellation has a relatively short history (established in 1995) but enjoys international fame as a new benchmark on the global winemaking scene.
GUADO AL TASSO
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and occasionally a small amount of Petit Verdot, representing the elegance, complexity, and structure of the Bolgheri terroir. It has been produced since 1990 from vineyards situated on alluvial soils, ranging from sandy-clay to silty-clay, with the presence of Bolgheri agglomerate (rock fragments).
The Bolgheri Superiore from Marchesi Antinori’s Tenuta Guado al Tasso is a prestigious Tuscan Supertuscan, the quintessential symbol of the Bolgheri terroir and Italian red wine. It is one of the crown jewels of the Maremma territory, which, thanks to its elegance and charm, has become a flagship of Italian winemaking.
Tasting notes for the 2021 vintage
Guado al Tasso 2021 presents an intense ruby red color. The nose is intense and complex, with alluring aromas of currant, blackberry, and blood orange, accompanied by a background of spicy notes, tobacco, licorice, and roasted coffee. On the palate, it is enveloping, persistent, and rich in vibrant, silky tannins. It is a powerful and graceful vintage with great aging potential.
