LUCIANO SANDRONE Barbera d’Alba 2020
LUCIANO SANDRONE Barbera d’Alba 2020
THE WINERY – LUCIANO SANDRONE
From the very first bottling in 1985, Luciano always believed in the unique and distinctive potential of the Cannubi hill, and that he wanted to express this potential by way of a separate vinification. This bottling pays homage to the richness and elegance of the favored Cannubi site in the heart of the Barolo. The optimal soil and climate conditions, harvest after harvest, have brought forth a wine that has drawn international attention since its first release.
Since the first beginning of his story, Luciano Sandrone has always had a clear philosophy of quality in mind, which has always been fully shared with his wife Mariuccia, his brother Luca and his daughter Barbara. Year after year this
philosophy has been refined. Please click on the images to learn more.
BARBERA D’ALBA
The Barbera d’Alba Luciano Sandrone is a full-bodied and intense red wine, aged 12 months in French oak tonneau. With a dark ruby color, the nose is sweet, fruity, enveloping, with bouquet of ripe raspberries, blueberries, sage and dark chocolate. The taste is fresh, juicy, with great balance and structure, but always preserving smoothness thanks to minerality. Smooth tannins and a long fruity finish.
From Monferrato to Langa. Though originally a native of the Monferrato hills, in the second half of the nineteenth century Barbera vines were planted in Roero and then in Langa. On these hills it thrived, often in competition with Nebbiolo, in the most suitable spaces where marl and compact soils prevail and where Barbera flourishes in the sunniest parcels. From this special symbiosis, the wine Barbera d’Alba is born, fruity and tangy, another star of the vineyard and of the cellar.
Vibrant & Generous. In this production area there are different vineyard parcels in which we cultivate Barbera in the hills of Barolo; each expresses its own character, dictated by the peculia- rities of terrain and climate. Each vintage we pick its grapes by hand and vinify each parcel separately to preserve the character of site into the wines. From the assemblage of these wines comes our Barbera d’Alba which we mature for 15 months in wooden barrels, a good part of which are new and that best balance the natural fruity and fresh texture of the wine with soft tannins.7
