GAJA Barbaresco 2020
GAJA Estate
Gaja is today a winery that boasts nearly 100 hectares of controlled estate vineyards in Piedmont alone. Founded in 1859 in Barbaresco, in the heart of the Langhe, the Gaja winery has always been recognized as one of the iconic names in Barbaresco production.
From founder Giovanni to Angelo Gaja, this family has always pursued quality. Piedmont is one of the most distinguished regions for producing great wines. Here, Nebbiolo often takes on poetic dimensions.
Angelo Gaja, in the 1960s, had the merit of renewing traditions. This meant introducing new techniques such as reducing yields per hectare, greater control of fermentation temperature, careful use of barrique, and the adoption of longer corks.
Thus Gaja managed to keep pace with the times, without falling into the error of becoming fossilized in tradition. A success, therefore, built with intelligence and intuition, inherited from the rigor and sacrifices of predecessors and developed and consolidated in recent decades thanks to Angelo’s formidable leadership.
Gaja has built around itself the image of a strong and essential brand, symbol of Barbaresco’s greatness and of a wine that expresses the poetry of its terroir in the glass.

-Tasting notes-
Gaja Barbaresco is bold, spicy, and licorice-scented, with austere toasted notes, coffee, hints of mint, blueberry, and balsamic nuances. Everything is beautifully defined.
- On the palate it is incredibly rich and elegant, with firm, precise tannins. The finish is sweet and exceptionally long.
- A Barbaresco with an exuberant nose, great structure, and a sweet, caressing finish.
