E. MOLINO Barolo Bricco Rocca 2019
E. Molino Winery
Sergio Molino is a well-known name in the Piedmontese wine world and beyond, serving as winemaker for numerous wineries in Piedmont and also in France. His expertise and passion for winemaking led him to begin bottling the 2.5-hectare vineyard in the Bricco Rocca cru in La Morra, owned by the family since time immemorial. Under the name E.Molino (the E stands for Ernesto, a tribute to his father of the same name), Sergio bottles approximately 6,000 bottles per year, divided into Barbera Superiore, Nebbiolo and Barolo, and in good vintages a Barolo Riserva.
Sergio has an almost obsessive approach to winemaking, seeking to understand and if possible master every aspect of the land and the cellar. Not surprisingly, next to his vineyard in the Annunziata locality, situated precisely between Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and La Morra on the Bricco Rocca Cru, there is a laboratory where he studies and cultivates bacteria and enzymes.
His ultimate goal is to transfer all the intrinsic characteristics of the grape into the glass while losing as little quality as possible during the winemaking and aging phases.
Barolo Bricco Rocca
The precision with which Sergio produces his wines is magnificently reflected in the Bricco Rocca 2019. Cold maceration yields a fresh and aromatic Barolo. Notes of red berries, fig leaves, licorice and tobacco. Pleasantly rich and velvety tannin on the palate without losing freshness.
