E. MOLINO Barolo Bricco Rocca 2019
E. Molino winery
Sergio Molino is a well-known name in the Italian wine world, he is the winemaker for a large number of wineries in Piedmont and also in France. His expertise and passion for winemaking made him decide to start bottling the 2.5 hectare vineyard in the Bricco Rocca cru in La Morra, owned by the family since time immemorial.
With the name E.Molino (the E stands for Ernesto and is therefore a tribute to his father who was called that) Sergio bottles about 6 thousand bottles a year, divided into Barbera Superiore, Nebbiolo and Barolo, in good years a Barolo Riserva. He has an almost obsessive way of making wine where he wants to understand and if possible master every aspect of the land and the cellar. It is not for nothing that next to his vineyard in Annunziata, located exactly between Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and La Morra on the Cru Bricco Rocca, there is a laboratory where he studies and breeds bacteria and enzymes.
Its ultimate goal is to transfer all the intrinsic characteristics of the grape into the glass and lose as little quality as possible during the vinification and aging phases.
Barolo Bricco Rocca
The precision with which Sergio produces his wines is also beautifully reflected in the Bricco Rocca 2019. The cold maceration gives a fresh and aromatic Barolo. Hints of red berry fruit, fig leaves, licorice and tobacco. Pleasantly rich and velvety tannin on the palate without losing freshness.
