Founded in 1906 by Luigi Nervi, this winery is located in Gattinara in the upper Valferana at the foot of Monte Rosa, an area that was highly celebrated in the early 1900s when the Langhe and its wines were not as established as they are today. This estate extends over 27 hectares, including the famous crus Valferana, Garavoglie and Molsino, in the volcanic area of upper Vercelli, born from the Valsesian volcano, with hillside terroirs protected to the north by the Monte Rosa massif. Here they cultivate Spanna (the local name for Nebbiolo) in ideal soil and microclimate conditions.

The Conterno family acquired this historic estate in 2015 with the intention of producing the finest Nebbiolos from this area in upper Piedmont. Nervi’s Gattinaras are mineral wines, elegant, profound and with an austerity typical of a highly recognizable traditional style.

GATTINARA

Nervi’s Gattinara is one of those wines that stands out for the balance and purity it offers.

It comes from vines that grow, sheltered by Monte Rosa, on volcanic porphyry extremely rich in minerals, with a high content of clay mixed with fine sands. A wine that is immediately clean and elegant, fragrant and rich in aromas.

• Color: garnet red.
• Aroma: notes of morello cherry and blueberries, hints of undergrowth and light spicy tones.
• Palate: reveals itself full and incisive, with well-integrated tannins and excellent persistence.

-Pairing-

Perfect paired with meat-based first courses such as risotto and pasta with sauce; it also pairs beautifully with braised red meats and roasts.
