CHARTOGNE TAILLET Champagne Le Rose’Brut
MAISON CHARTOGNE TAILLET
Founded by Fiacre Taillet, the Maison has been led since 2006 by Alexandre Chartogne, whose family has been producing wine since 1683. An internship at Anselme Selosse’s winery in Avize completely changed his vision of the winemaking profession.
The estate’s 12-hectare vineyards, facing south/southeast, are located in Merfy, not far from Reims. They are planted with 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier, and 5% Arbanne. To preserve nature, the estate does not use pesticides.
Horses are used in the vineyards for clearing between the rows, tilling the soil, and other agricultural work that requires precision and greater care of the vines than tractors. The use of horses also allows for the avoidance of machinery that pollutes the air with fumes and waste, thus preserving the quality of the grapes and the health of the soil.
The wines are not filtered to preserve their identity.
Deeply attached to his terroir, Alexandre pays homage to it through his parcel-by-parcel cuvées, a personal interpretation of a vineyard he considers a universal heritage, including Les Alliées, Les Orizeaux, Les Barres, Heurtebise, and Les Beaux-Sens, as well as the Sainte-Anne cuvée, a tribute to the patron saint of Merfy, and a delicate blend of all the domaine’s parcels.
The House is a member of “Terres et Vins de Champagne,” an association of winemakers created in 2009 with the aim of promoting and promoting the wines and terroirs of around twenty small producers united by a vision and artisanal interpretation of the noblest of sparkling wines. Every spring, a tasting day is held in Champagne, where each winery presents some of its wines.
CHAMPAGNE LE ROSE’
This blended rosé combines power, warmth, and tension. The combination of wines from sandy, limestone soils and red wine produced in the Orizeaux gives this champagne a fresh and pleasant personality.
