CASANOVA DI NERI Brunello di Montalcino 2018
CASANOVA DI NERI Brunello di Montalcino 2018
THE WINERY CASANOVA DI NERI
In 1971, Giovanni Neri founded the Casanova di Neri winery after purchasing a vast estate in the Montalcino territory. Giovanni’s goal was to create a great Brunello di Montalcino from premier vineyard sites. Today, as Casanova di Neri has become a model winery in Montalcino and its wines have garnered international acclaim, his son Giacomo, wife Enrichetta, and their children carry on their father Giovanni’s ambitious project.
A fascinating journey, the result of a continuous process of production and philosophical evolution, and a new vision of Brunello di Montalcino that stems from tradition and interprets it with innovation. This is how unique and highly recognizable wines like Tenuta Nuova and Cerretalto were born—full-bodied, powerful reds that are simultaneously characterized by great elegance.
Casanova di Neri boasts a 55-hectare estate of prestigious vineyards, divided into 5 estates: Pietradonica, Le Centine, Cerretalto, Fiesole, and Podernuovo. Each has its own unique characteristics, in terms of both climate and soil type. The winery’s six labels reflect the vineyards from which they originate.
It originates from vineyards with unique characteristics that produce Sangiovese grapes, resulting in a highly recognizable wine that combines structure, power, and finesse.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO
Casanova di Neri has consistently produced its White Label Brunello since 1978 with an unmistakable style.
This Brunello is thus distinguished by its finesse and elegance, thanks to the combination of Sangiovese’s typical character and the qualities bestowed by the unique vineyards where it is produced. A wine with great aging potential whose qualities remain consistent over time.
-Vinification-
Manual selection of clusters before destemming and berry selection via optical sorter. This is followed by spontaneous fermentation without added yeasts and maceration assisted by frequent punch-downs. The entire process takes place in temperature-controlled truncated conical steel vats for 25 days.
-Aging period-
42 months in barrels – 6 months in the bottle
-Tasting Notes-
- Color: bright and intense red.
- Nose: On the nose, it is initially subtle and citrusy. Subsequently, red fruits emerge, notably perfectly ripe cherry, raspberry, and black cherry.
- Palate: On the palate, the generosity of a vintage like 2017 is clearly evident: soft, silky tannins balanced by a hint of acidity that perfectly embodies the energy of this
sunny vintage. The finish is long and elegant, fresh and balanced
-2018 Vintage-
Translucent bright red. The nose is attractive and charming, with the freshness of the 2018 vintage fully revealed, followed by notes of nutmeg and young red fruit. On the palate, the first impact is bold, generous, and controlled. Balance reigns in the mouth, where the tannic texture is perfectly balanced with the acidity, allowing this wine to be enjoyed even in its youth.
