Brunello di Montalcino 2013 Tenuta Poggio di Sotto
Brunello di Montalcino 2013 Tenuta Poggio di Sotto
This is the first Poggio di Sotto vintage under new ownership.
Owner Claudio Tipa has kept the same team in place including consultant Federico Staderini, who worked under Giulio Gambelli the legendary Tuscan consultant and foremost defender of the Sangiovese grape.
Giulio sadly passed away in January 2012, 2011 would have been the last vintage he tasted from barrel.
Structured and gripping but velvety enough, long fine flavours of liquer fruit, flowers, herbs and minerals.
Great length of flavour and complexity.
I took a severe selection to end up with such a fine result, producing 6000 bottles less than usual.
Stunning effort. Made the traditional way, aged for 4 years in large used Slavonian oak casks.
