BRAIDA Bricco dell’Uccellone Barbera d’Asti 2022
…THE STORY…
The story of Braida is linked to that of Rocchetta Tanaro, a small town in the Monferrato region of Asti.
“My village is no surprise, ten vineyards, six houses, one church”: these are the words of chansonnier Paolo Frola, who is also the local doctor of Rocchetta. The song was written with Gianni Mura, drinking the Barbera of Rocchetta. Of those ten vineyards sung by Frola, some are Braida. They belonged to grandfather Giuseppe, then passed to father Giacomo, and now Giuseppe and Raffaella Bologna cultivate them. The estate was born from the enthusiasm, passion and entrepreneurial courage of a Rocchetta native “Doc”, Giacomo Bologna.
“Braida” was the nickname that Giacomo’s father, Giuseppe Bologna, a carter by trade, earned playing pallone elastico due to his resemblance to a champion of the sport. From his father, Giacomo inherited the nickname along with a love for sports and horses, and a large Barbera vineyard on the hills of Rocchetta.
