BOLLINGER La Grande Annee Champagne 2014

CHAMPAGNE BOLLINGER

Bollinger Champagnes are recognized among a thousand.

Bollinger Champagne is first of all a great wine. It all begins with the vines, and with the pursuit of excellence in the selection of soils. With 163 hectares, Champagne Bollinger exploits its vineyards at more than 60% every year, a situation certainly exceptional in Champagne, and this is what guarantees the qualitative consistency of the style. The same requirement extends to the selection of vineyards. Bollinger supplies more than 80% of Grand and Premier Cru, which make up only 20% of the vineyards of the appellation. The quality of the selected grapes justifies the fact that Bollinger uses only the first pressing at the time of harvest: another exception in Champagne.

A prestigious vintage champagne signed Bollinger

-The Estate-
Timeless and mythical, the Champagne House Bollinger, nicknamed “Boll” for the Champenois or “Boly” for the English, is part of the small circle of the very large houses of Champagne. The style of Champagne Bollinger is defined by the exemplary precision brought to each moment of the elaboration. Respect for tradition, hand riddling of bottles, corking of reserve magnum bottles, the last remaining cooper in the Champagne region, this taste for excellence symbolises the entire culture of Champagne Bollinger. More than an art, it is a heritage.

-The vineyard-
La Grande Année 2014 comes from 21 exceptional vintages of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Mostly from Ay and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir, the chardonays completing the blend are mainly from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oiry.

-The vintage 2014-
La Grande Année is only vinified in the case of an exceptional vintage with a perfect balance of berries. The 2014 vintage delivers generous, lively and complex wines.

-Tasting-

  • Colour: Delicate, the colour of La Grande Année 2012 reveals a golden hue.
  • Nose: The nose is expressive and complex. Warm aromas of honey and cereals mingle with notes of apricot, almond and hazelnut.
  • Palate: On the palate, La Grande Cuvée is distinguished by its exceptional texture and structure. Dense and persistent, the palate surprises by its freshness and unctuousness punctuated by beautiful bitterness on the finish.

-Serving suggestions-
It is advisable to serve La Grande Année 2014 at a temperature between 8 and 10°C to bring out its style and aromas.

-Food and Wine Pairing-
La Grande Année 2014 will go perfectly with scallops, grilled oysters or a chicken of the forest accompanied by potatoes and truffles.
