DOM PERIGNON Champagne 2017
PRODUCER – DOM PERIGNON
The Champagne Dom Perignon is probably best known bubbles around the world, entitled to the Benedictine monaco intimately linked to the origins of Champagne itself. It was marketed in 1936 by Robert-Jean de Vogue with the idea of giving birth to a luxury Champagne and, to do it, enclosed in the bottle the historic Moet 1921 Family Reserve. The first “real” vintage of Dom Perignon will arrive in 1947.
Today this historic Champagne is produced from the only grapes Grand Cru of property and, because it can bear the label, must ensure aging potential of at least 30 years. Since the approach olfactory Dom Perignon is intense, with the minerality typical of the house in the foreground accompanied by smoky nuances.
CHAMPAGNE BRUT MILLESIME
It is defined from the beginning as a great Champagne, capable of enhancing the typical label. The taste is always very balanced between the fineness of the bubble, the roundness of the body and richness of flavor, always noble and never over the top. A Champagne historically high level, which never cease to amaze despite the passage of the harvest.

The 2017 Harvest: A Dry Vintage Full of Contrasts
The year 2017 unfolded in three distinct phases—three opposing directions that defined the vintage’s tense, dynamic character. In the vineyards, the year began with a mild winter.
However, early spring—specifically March—saw this calm interrupted by twelve days of frost, which reduced the potential yield. The remainder of spring and the start of summer were hot and dry, conditions that fostered early ripening and concentrated sugars in the remaining clusters. Rainfall in late August shifted the situation; the development of *Botrytis* and acetic bacteria put the grapes at risk. As in 2005 and 2010, the harvesting strategy and skillful selection were essential to saving the best fruit. The harvested Chardonnay grapes were the ripest since 2000, while the Pinot Noir displayed a beautiful balance between ripeness and freshness.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2017 presents a luminous golden-yellow hue, animated by a very fine, persistent perlage. It opens on the nose with great elegance and precision, offering a refined bouquet where notes of white-fleshed fruit, ripe citrus, and peach intertwine with delicate floral scents. More complex nuances of brioche, toasted almond, and faint spicy hints emerge, accompanied by the subtle chalky minerality characteristic of the Maison. On the palate, it is harmonious, fresh, and creamy, with a balanced structure and lively acidity supporting the sip. The finish is long, savory, and enveloping, leaving an impression of great finesse and persistence. A Champagne of extraordinary elegance, capable of evolving gracefully over time. Born of tension, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2017 carries an intrinsic mystery: a complexity, a dual nature—like stepping into the vortex of an energy storm. Balancing opulence and angularity, roundness and linearity, it reconciles opposites. It displays a mineral tension—an iconic characteristic of Dom Pérignon—alongside the generosity of extraordinary ripeness, albeit tamed and balanced.
Its movement is pulsating and swirling, like a substance defying gravity.
