In 1971, Giovanni Neri founded the Casanova di Neri winery after purchasing a vast estate in the Montalcino territory. Giovanni’s goal was to create a great Brunello di Montalcino from premier vineyard sites. Today, as Casanova di Neri has become a model winery in Montalcino and its wines have garnered international acclaim, his son Giacomo, wife Enrichetta, and their children carry on their father Giovanni’s ambitious project.

A journey of great fascination, the result of a continuous process of productive and philosophical evolution, and a new vision of Brunello di Montalcino that starts from tradition and interprets it with innovation. This is how unique and highly recognizable wines like Tenuta Nuova and Cerretalto were born—full-bodied, powerful reds that simultaneously possess great elegance.

Casanova di Neri boasts a 55-hectare estate of prestigious vineyards, divided into 5 estates: Pietradonica, Le Centine, Cerretalto, Fiesole, and Podernuovo. Each has its own unique characteristics, in terms of both climate and soil type. The winery’s six labels reflect the vineyards from which they originate.
Strictly organic methods are adopted to respect nature absolutely. Giacomo built an underground cellar, designed so as not to require air conditioning.

Cerretalto is the synthesis of intuition, passion, and vision that has always distinguished the work of Casanova di Neri.

The mineral imprint, the extraordinary complexity achievable only in certain vintages and only thanks to a Sangiovese with small, loose bunches, the decisive human contribution of dedication and love for working the land, and the great attention in the cellar allow for a wine of exceptional quality, personality, and unique style. It expresses the terroir where it is born together with our idea of a great Brunello.
