BARBARESCO ASILI CERETTO 2019
CERETTO The Founders
In search of crus, a brilliant intuition
Selecting vineyards in the most historically significant locations was the goal of brothers Bruno and Marcello Ceretto. This idea, inspired by a trip to Burgundy, would prove the family right and make Barolo and Barbaresco wines among the most appreciated in the world.
A revolution at the time for a region where the concept of ‘cru’ was entirely unknown, but above all, a brilliant intuition. It was a true struggle, undertaken with their father Riccardo, who used to buy grapes to vinify them. “You are starting a difficult path; the land has never created wealth for anyone,” Riccardo maintained, but the stubborn Bruno and Marcello had no doubts: “We are one hundred percent for the land; the cellar certainly counts for something, but great wines are made with grapes.”
They then began to dream of labels bearing the name of the vineyard and its photograph: “so that those who drink that wine have the vineyard it comes from before their eyes. The vineyard is history; the names of the hills remain over time, they do not change, and this strengthens the quality and credibility of the wines produced here. You can always seek out, visit, and touch a vineyard.”
In 1986, Wine Spectator, perhaps the most influential American wine magazine, featured the two brothers from the Langhe on its cover, calling them the “Barolo Brothers.” Bruno and Marcello were under 50, yet they were not overwhelmed by this official recognition, which many aspire to but few achieve.
Today, they have remained true to themselves, never ceasing to dream and fight for a worthy cause. Meanwhile, the Langhe has grown with them and with those who, like them, put the name of the land that birthed and accompanied them throughout their lives before their own.
Recently, the company made a very important decision: to abandon all chemicals in order to obtain the most natural wine possible.
Our Philosophy
“More than a job, ours is a passion. One certainty is the method established by my father: letting customers experience our culture and discover the beauty of our region, the Langhe.”

BARBARESCO ASILI
Bricco Asili Winery
BARBARESCO ASILI CERETTO 2019. Bricco Asili was the first winery built by Bruno and Marcello Ceretto, in 1973. The idea was to create a place dedicated to vinification and aging, building it directly at the grapes’ place of origin, modeled after French châteaux. Currently, this winery processes grapes from two exceptional climats: Bernadot in Treiso and Asili in Barbaresco.
The wine
It is one of the most representative climats of the denomination and the very symbol of the municipality of Barbaresco, striking for its finesse and power, disarming elegance, and longevity. The vineyard area descends to the foot of the hill, from 290 m at the peak to 200 m at the valley floor. The soils are marked by the presence of Sant’Agata Fossil Marls, and the exposure is South/South-West. Ceretto owns the hilltop (just over one hectare), which, due to its unique nuances, can be considered almost an independent production context. The grapes from this vineyard have been vinified as a single-variety since the first half of the 1970s.
