DOMAINE PATRICK MIOLANE BOURGOGNE ALIGOTE 2023
The Miolane estate comprises nine hectares of vineyards in Saint-Aubin, a village in the prestigious Côte de Beaune region, located in the southern part of the Côte-d’Or.
The business is run by Patrick and his dynamic and forward-thinking daughter, Barbara. They are a perfect couple, each responsible for their own areas of activity: Dad takes care of the vineyard; Barbara is in charge of winemaking and marketing. Barbara represents the seventh generation and continues to grow and produce wines with passion.
She joined the company in 2005, after earning a degree in wine marketing from the Grandchamp Rural Education Center. Barbara quickly immersed herself in the industry, learning viticulture and winemaking from her father, Patrick.
While he gradually stepped aside, she took over the reins of the estate, supported by a reliable team.
Mother of two kids, Barbara is well aware of the challenges women face in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Yet, it faces this challenge with a mix of determination and grace.
The estate produces fourteen appellations—Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Puligny-Montrachet—including premier cru, village, and regional wines. The white wines strongly reflect the local growing conditions (terroir), particularly the mineral quality of the soil. The estate produces 13 cuvées, including red and white wines, suitable for both aging and drinking young.
As for the reds, the estate boasts a number of Pinot Noir wines that are aged for a long time and allowed to mature slowly. They are rich in red fruit flavors, with finely structured tannins.
BOURGOGNE ALIGOTE
The Aligoté vineyards are located at the foot of the village of Puligny-Montrachet.
After manual harvesting, the grapes are sorted to remove any dry berries, leaf fragments, and stems. A second sorting process is carried out to discard any green, damaged,
or unhealthy berries. They are then gently pressed at low pressure to prevent oxidation. Fermentation begins naturally and slowly with indigenous yeasts. To preserve the freshness of the Aligoté, the wine is aged in barrels for 10-12 months, depending on the vintage.
The wine has a straw yellow color with bright green highlights. The wine reveals aromas of citrus and exotic fruit. On the palate, it strikes a balance between freshness and roundness, conferred by the age of the vines.
It is best enjoyed young for its freshness.
This Bourgogne Aligoté pairs perfectly with seafood or a charcuterie board.
Serve between 9 and 12°C.
