Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno
Oreno was first created in 1999 by Dr. Antonio Moretti Cuseri, an avid winelover, who, during his frequent travels, was impressed by the elegance and finesse of Bordeaux grapes, so much so, that he decided to plant the varieties at his own estate. He grafted established vineyards with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, which adapt extremely well to the terroirs of Tuscany. The name Oreno comes from a stream that crosses the estate, precisely in an area rich in clay, where our Merlot vines grow. Our Cabernet grapes are planted to soils more suited to them, in vineyards that have a greater presence of pebbles, which ensure excellent drainage and self-regulate based on temperature and humidity. The perfect complement to the blend is Petit Verdot, traditionally used to add spicy notes and a more intense flavor. While the wine is inspired by Bordeaux blends, it has a strong Tuscan soul.
Oreno, which takes its name from the river that crosses the estate and the hamlet where the Farmhouse is found, is the estate’s agship wine.
Fruit of the blend of Merlot structure and Cabernet Sauvignon class, brought together with the elegance of Petit Verdot, it expresses best the potential of the territory and the Moretti family’s idea of wine.
Vinification:
Fermentation and skin maceration at a controlled temperature for about 25 days with frequent pumpovers. Aged in French oak barrique for 18 months and 12 months in bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Dark ruby red with bright purple highlights; the nose shows incredible sensations of roundness and complexity with notes of small ripe red berries that blend with aromas of chocolate and balsamic notes. Oreno is all-encompassing, opulent in structure but unquestionably dynamic, heightened by the nuances of new oak and unceasing persistence.
