MASSOLINO Barbaresco 2021
MASSOLINO Barbaresco 2021
THE WINERY – MASSOLINO
The history of the Massolinos and their wine became entwined with the history of Serralunga d’Alba in 1896, when Giovanni founded the Estate. Giovanni was the very first person to bring the electric current to the village. An enterprising, tenacious and creative man, progenitor of a family that has made the combination of inspiration and tradition something to be proud of.
-Family-
The first wine cellar was built by Giuseppe, son of the founder Giovanni, who, together with his sister Angela, extended his estate into the best soils and, in 1934, was one of the founders of the Consortium for the Defence of Barolo and Barbaresco. At that time, Giuseppe had six children. Three of them, Giovanni, Camilla and Renato, followed in their father’s footsteps, expanding the estate with the purchase of cru vineyards which are authentic jewels: Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda.
-Philosophy-
Making wine with passion, in its land of origin, preserving the typical characteristics of the autochthonous grape varieties, being convinced that there is a deep and tangible link between the vines, hills and winegrowers, made up of affinities cemented, by habit, to the land. Since 1896, the Massolino family has been making wine this way, loyal to this philosophy and to the capacity for innovation in the name of tradition. In short, loyal to itself.
BARBARESCO MASSOLINO
In 2019 the new chapter of family history is born: the Barbaresco is produced
The adventure of the Massolino family in the prestigious hills of Barbaresco finally begins. 2019 marks the birth of two new labels, which tell the commitment to compete with one of the most important wines of Langa. For the company Massolino the realization of a dream.
The Barbaresco appellation is without a doubt a jewel in the crown of Italian enology that for the Massolino winery represents an extraordinary project. Finally, at the end of 2018, the good fortune of finding vineyards located in very suitable areas followed this great dream.
Type of soil: medium dough
First year of production: 2019.
Vinification and aging: Traditional Barbaresco with fermentation and maceration of medium duration in oak vats, at temperatures of around 30 C; aging takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels up to 18 months. The wine is then aged in the bottle in cool and dark rooms.
Notes: the soil of the Barbaresco area offers a very particular expression of Nebbiolo. These vineyards are able to give wines with an exceptional balance and finesse, delicate and elegant. A very persuasive and fascinating expression
- Colour: Medium intense garnet red.
- Scent: Emerge seductive floral notes accompanied by hints of red fruit that give the glass a very precise identity; we are in front of wines more gentle and delicate than our Barolo, but with an incredible charm.
- Taste: Great harmony, well polished tannins and balanced acidity; it has a pleasantness that, undoubtedly, underlines the character of these extraordinary territories… are the qualities we look for in our Barbaresco wines!
