Founded in 1906, Nervi is the oldest winery in the Gattinara DOCG area. The porphyry and clay rich vineyards cover 28.5 hectares of Nebbiolo vines at the Alpine foothills of Monte Rosa, in steep, south facing slopes. True to the area’s tradition, they prune and harvest by hand and make fine red wine using large oak casks for both fermentation and aging. In 2011 four Norwegian families, joined by their passion for wine and viticulture, bought the estate. The chief oenologist Enrico Fileppo ensures adherence to tradition with 30 years of Nervi winemaking experience and many award winning vintages.

GATTINARA

The Gattinara by Nervi is one of those wines that stand for balance and for cleaning, which are able to offer.

Nervi Gattinara comes from the best bunches of Casacce and Garavoglie grapes, but also from the Molsino and Valferana grapes. The bunches are delicately destemmed and crushed. Maceration lasts at least 20 days and takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks and conical vats.

• Colour: intense garnet red
• Scent: intense aromas of berries, earth, ripe fruit and a slight spiciness
• Taste: full, punchy, with powdery tannins and fine persistence
