Amarone della Valpolicella Classico ALLEGRINI 2011
In the glass this 2011 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella is a deep ruby colour. Prodigious alcoholic legs match a pronounced alcoholic content of 15.5% abv.
Aromatically pronounced, this 2011 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella leads with aromas of ripe and rich black cherry and damson along with notes of prune and raisin. The fruit-led bouquet confirms this wine’s relative youth, although some aromas of development are in evidence with coffee, dark chocolate and clove notes also in evidence.
Dry, full-bodied and richly textured, this 2009 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella is wonderfully mouth-filling on the tongue. A huge concentration of baked dark fruit flavours leads this wine, with flavours of dried fruits defining the mid-palate of this 2011 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella before finally yielding into mocha and spice notes towards the finish. The tannins are notable but gummy in the mouth, with plenty of acidity also suggesting that this Amarone della Valpolicella will further develop with cellaring should you so desire.
Drinking well now, it should comfortably continue to develop in bottle for up to ten years if cellared correctly.
