The Bordeaux blend SOMA is part of the “TERROIR” line, the premium range of Cantina Kurtatsch. Through careful and precise vinification of individual parcels, it reflects the great potential of the Cortaccia vineyards.

In the SOMA cuvée (ancient Greek term for body), the warmest vineyards from the first hills of Cantina Kurtatsch are united. Thanks to the village’s geographical position in the southern part of Alto Adige, the vineyard plots on sandy and clay soils are ideal for cultivating noble Bordeaux varieties, where the microclimate is very warm with temperatures up to 40°C.

KURTATSCH CORTACCIA SOMA Merlot and Cabernet 2023. These were planted in Cortaccia as early as the beginning of the 20th century. In SOMA, it is the Merlot with its fruity richness that sets the tone, while Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon add hints of spice, elegance and depth. On the nose, aromas of cherry, blackberry and plum dominate. On the palate, present tannins provide further balance to the full body and form the foundation for long bottle aging. SOMA is a sensual wine.

Vinification

Temperature-controlled fermentation in rotary fermenter, aging in barrique for 12 months, followed by maturation in concrete.
