LUCE DELLA VITE
Our history. The beginning.
When Vittorio Frescobaldi – in the early Nineties – met Robert Mondavi, they gave life to a new chapter in the history of the great Tuscan wines, in the history of fine wines.
From that meeting, came Luce. It all started from the desire to make a dream come true: create excellent wines from Tuscany in a particularly suitable terroir, Montalcino.
An ambitious project called Luce della Vite, a tribute to this primary element that gives warmth, energy, and life: in nature, nothing would exist without light.
Over the years, Tenuta Luce honoured this vision and became a cradle where exclusive wines are born, wines that earned a widespread, international appreciation among the great wines from Tuscany.
From one generation to the other, the baton was given to Lamberto Frescobaldi, son of Vittorio.
Under his direction, Tenuta Luce della Vite has further strengthened the universe of expertise and knowledge, of discipline respectful of the rhythms of nature, of high quality oenological work thanks to which the fruits of the vines are transformed into excellent wines from Tuscany.
LUX VITIS
It took us all the experience acquired over many years of careful and respectful observation of Nature to breathe life into Lux Vitis.
Everything began in a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard planted in Montalcino in 2004 on mixed sandy soil. Over the years, they observed these vines as grew and were surprised by the exceptional quality of their grapes, so much so we decided to make an exclusive wine, capable of interpreting the Tenuta Luce terroir through Cabernet Sauvignon.
To these grapes, they added a small quantity of Sangiovese to enrich the wine’s character. The long ageing in new French oak barrels for 24 months further enhanced the elegance of this new wine by Tenuta Luce.
Vintage 2020
“Lux Vitis” is a red with a Mediterranean character, rich and complex. A blend of cabernet sauvignon to which a pinch of sangiovese is added, it is striking for its expressive and incisive sip, capable of enveloping the palate without ever being too aggressive. The bunches, after the manual harvest which took place on the Castelgiocondo estate owned by the Marchesi Frescobaldi, are destemmed, and the best grapes move on to the pressing phase, must ferments in concrete tanks at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30 degrees, macerating on the skins for 3 weeks. The refinement lasts 24 months and is carried out in new oak barriques. A compact and precise IGT Toscana, concentrated but never intrusive, a collectible for those who love investing in the world of wine or a memorable drink for those who want to immediately indulge in the luxury of an unforgettable bottle!
Tasting Notes
After visual examination it presents itself with a dense and concentrated ruby color. On the nose, particular importance is given to the spicy notes, enriched by touches of very ripe black berry fruit. Upon tasting it demonstrates all its strength, which leverages an important but never too intrusive tannic texture; the sip is characterized by a fresh taste, with excellent persistence on the finish.
