MASSOLINO Barolo 2019
MASSOLINO Barolo 2019
THE WINERY – MASSOLINO
The history of the Massolinos and their wine became entwined with the history of Serralunga d’Alba in 1896, when Giovanni founded the Estate. Giovanni was the very first person to bring the electric current to the village. An enterprising, tenacious and creative man, progenitor of a family that has made the combination of inspiration and tradition something to be proud of.
-Family-
The first wine cellar was built by Giuseppe, son of the founder Giovanni, who, together with his sister Angela, extended his estate into the best soils and, in 1934, was one of the founders of the Consortium for the Defence of Barolo and Barbaresco. At that time, Giuseppe had six children. Three of them, Giovanni, Camilla and Renato, followed in their father’s footsteps, expanding the estate with the purchase of cru vineyards which are authentic jewels: Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda.
-Philosophy-
Making wine with passion, in its land of origin, preserving the typical characteristics of the autochthonous grape varieties, being convinced that there is a deep and tangible link between the vines, hills and winegrowers, made up of affinities cemented, by habit, to the land. Since 1896, the Massolino family has been making wine this way, loyal to this philosophy and to the capacity for innovation in the name of tradition. In short, loyal to itself.
BAROLO MASSOLINO
Red wine robust and important, with pleasant fruity and spicy notes, of beautiful structure and personality, aged for at least 30 months in oak barrels
…one of the most beautiful…
The Barolo by Massolino is one of the most beautiful expression of the territory of Serralunga d’Alba; an expression expertly made by one of the wineries with more history, awards and experience of the Langhe. A history inextricably linked to the territory of Serralunga d’Alba, since 1896 when Giovanni decided to found his wine business; resourceful, tenacious, stubborn and creative, in a few years John manages to fulfill his dream, filling the story of his family’s pride and heritage which over the years has done nothing but grow, becoming one of the most recognized and Langhe in Italy in the rest of world.
Barolo is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown on the beautiful vineyards of the territory of Serralunga d’Alba; rolling hills, with altitudes ranging between 320 and 360 meters above sea level, on soils rich in limestone, exposed to the sun of the South, from vineyards with ages ranging between 10 and 55 years. The Barolo by Massolino is one of the finest expressions of the territory of Serralunga d’Alba, subareas that give a wide range of scents ranging from fruity to floral ones, joining a really intense spiciness. Its garnet red indicates that we are facing a great Barolo; a Barolo that is not afraid of aging, and that is with all his personality the true character of these lands.
- Colour: Garnet red
- Scent: Rich, intense and floral, with scents of red roses, violets, cherries, wild berries and balsamic herbs
- Taste: Full-bodied, structured, deep but also fresh, savory and taut, with a long persistence
