Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1997
Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1997
Biondi-Santi is one of the world’s most revered producers and is more or less the founder of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.
They remain to this day as arguably the most prestigious producer in the region.
The estate is known for its unswerving adherence to traditional production methods, using long fermentations with native yeasts and ageing periods.
For their Brunellos this is in resin-lined cement tanks, while the riserva is fermented in wooden vats.
Large Slavonian oak is primarily used for maturation, as well as a few barrels dating back to the 19th century
Vintage 1997
“A truly excellent harvest“. At Greppo weather conditions were extremely favourable: the winter cold and wet, spring was moderately rainy, June and July dry and hot, August was hot with three rainfalls well spaced, September was dry.
The grapes were perfect, healthy and ripe, very rich in colour, with the resulting juice rich in extracts, sugar content and acidity.
- Only grapes that come from the Estate vineyards are vinified.
- Uncork and pour out a bit of wine from the bottles at least 8 hours before serving.
