THE CA’ DEL BAIO <\/a> WINERY<\/h2>\n

Langhe. From father to son, the Grasso family has tended their vineyards\u2014almost a single body surrounding the farmhouse\u2014expanded over time through marriages and acquisitions.<\/p>\n

Today, Giulio and Luciana, along with their daughters Paola, Valentina, and Federica, manage the various sectors of the estate with passion and expertise, from vineyard care and winemaking to cellar hospitality and wine marketing.<\/p>\n

Simplicity, a sense of sacrifice, and an attachment to their land are the essential prerequisites for the Grasso family to guarantee quality in their wines.<\/p>\n

BARBARESCO<\/a> AUTINBEJ<\/h2>\n

This wine is the result of blending several estate crus, those that grandfather Ernesto called “autin bej” in Piedmontese: the most beautiful and sunniest vineyards or parts of vineyards.<\/p>\n

It is a Barbaresco made as it once was, combining particularly suited and, in this case, high-altitude vineyards to unite the best characteristics of the great Nebbiolo from Barbaresco in a single wine. The first harvest was 2014, a challenge in a year generally considered difficult. However, compared to the rest of Piedmont and Italy, the Barbaresco area was a special enclave in 2014, with a very favorable climate.<\/p>\n

– WINEMAKING AND AGING –<\/h3>\n

Traditional red vinification of destemmed grapes, with maceration on the skins for 9 to 15 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine matures for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. It ages in the bottle for at least 4 months before leaving the cellar.<\/p>\n

– TASTING NOTES –<\/h3>\n

Deep garnet red color with antique pink reflections at the rim; intense and fruity bouquet reminiscent of raspberry and jam, but also violet. Ethereal sensations are accompanied by sweet spicy notes and hints of cocoa; warm, long, persistent, and slightly tannic flavor. The aftertaste brings back fruity notes. On the palate, it is particularly crisp, with herbaceous and juicy notes.<\/p>\n

– IDEAL PAIRINGS –<\/h3>\n

The structure and fruity intensity of the wine suggest, in addition to the traditional pairing with red meats, pairing with duck or pork, grilled or fried, also served with sweet and sour or spicy sauces.

Versatile and captivating, Autinbej expresses great personality as early as 3 years after the harvest and promises to continue growing for 10-15 years. It is recommended to store the bottle lying down, in the dark, and at a constant temperature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
