The story of Braida is linked to that of Rocchetta Tanaro, a small town in the Monferrato region of Asti.<\/p>\n

“My village is no surprise, ten vineyards, six houses, one church”<\/em>: these are the words of chansonnier Paolo Frola, who is also the local doctor of Rocchetta. The song was written with Gianni Mura, drinking the Barbera of Rocchetta. Of those ten vineyards sung by Frola, some are Braida. They belonged to grandfather Giuseppe, then passed to father Giacomo, and now Giuseppe and Raffaella Bologna cultivate them. The estate was born from the enthusiasm, passion and entrepreneurial courage of a Rocchetta native “Doc”, Giacomo Bologna.<\/p>\n

“Braida” was the nickname that Giacomo’s father, Giuseppe Bologna, a carter by profession, had earned playing pallone elastico, due to his resemblance to a champion of this sport. From his father Giacomo inherited, along with the nickname, a love for sports and horses and an extensive Barbera vineyard on the hills of Rocchetta.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Braida is Raffaella’s infectious laughter and Giuseppe’s absorbed gaze. Two siblings who carry in their genes and gestures the heritage of an exceptional Italian wine family. A heritage that through daily work they consolidate and expand, sharing its finest fruits with their wonderful team of collaborators, with their essential hometown, Rocchetta Tanaro, and with all those who love their wines.<\/div>\n

Braida is the “forest of thoughts”, up there in Montebruna, and the young vines aligned and ready to give life to a new Barbera vineyard at Asinara. Biodiversity and production rigor, genius, imagination and respect for tradition.<\/div>\n

This is the wine with which Braida’s story officially begins: the first grapes for this wine grew in grandmother Caterina’s vineyard and in the cellar grandfather would write with chalk “La Monella” on the most exuberant Barbera barrel. <\/span>It is lively and has never changed because it is perfect in its simplicity.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Grape and Vineyard<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
100% Barbera. Different terroirs, predominantly young, with an average density of 5,000 vines per hectare.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In the Cellar<\/h3>\n

Ten days of maceration on the skins, then maturation of at least four months in steel. Sparkling is achieved in autoclave. Followed by two months of refinement in bottle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

  • Color<\/strong>: bright violet ruby red, lively foam, slightly sparkling.<\/li>\n
  • Aroma<\/strong>: Fragrant, exuberant and vinous bouquet, with numerous hints of red fruit.<\/li>\n
