G.B. BURLOTTO<\/h2>\n

Burlotto<\/a>\u00a0is now considered one of Piemonte\u2019s great small producers, thanks to the brilliant and highly traditional winemaking of G.B.\u2019s great-great-grandson, Fabio Alessandria.<\/p>\n

To some Barolo represents the very pinnacle of Italian wine.
\nThis is the intense and seductive world of Nebbiolo, where solid tannins vie unexpectedly well with delicate fruit, and where age unwinds ever more complex flavours.<\/p>\n

PRODUCER:<\/h3>\n

Today, Fabio Alessandria is following in the footsteps of his renowned ancestor Giovan Battista (G.B.) Burlotto who was one of the great figures of Barolo from the mid-19th century until his death in 1927.
\nG.B.’s wines were supplied to the Royal Court of Savoy and he was a pioneer in sending finished, bottled wines directly to their customers – rather than in bulk.<\/p>\n

Rooted in tradition, without being stuck in the past, the flagship wine still comes from the incredible Barolo Monvigliero vineyard in the village of Verduno.
\nThe labels still have the feel of those in G.B.’s day; the grapes are still foot-trodden, and the musts undergo 60 day macerations before long ageing in large botte<\/em>.
\nAll this wines are as highly regarded today as in G.B.’s time.
\nTheir crystalline freshness and purity of fruit continues to strike the perfect chord for lovers of great Piedmont wines.<\/p>\n

    Characteristics<\/h3>\n

    This is an excellent wine with great personality made with Sauvignon blanc variety. Harvested when completely ripe to get the best of this variety in terms of complexity and richness. After the grapes are pickup from the bunch they are pressed and they macerate with the skins. They must then develop the alcoholic and in part the malo-lactic fermentation in oak barrels where it stays with the bottoms for 10 months. It is then bottled and it refines for 3-4 months. The ripeness and fermentation in barrel of French oak of five hectoliters contribute to exalt the character and the long life.<\/p>\n
