It all began in the 1960s, when Marine and Gervais Lavantureux produced wine at their estate in Chablis, Burgundy, for friends and family. The first “tasters” were so captivated that the first customers soon arrived, and wine orders began to grow. It was then that the family realized that wine could be more than a hobby; it could become their life project.<\/p>\n
Twenty years later, Roland Lavantureux, the first to bottle wines under his own name, expanded the estate from 5 to 20 hectares and laid the foundations for the house we know today. Currently, his sons, Arnaud and David, the next generation, manage the winery with a clear philosophy: minimal interference and maximum expression of the terroir, curating each cuv\u00e9e with meticulous care and patience that respects the terroir of each parcel.<\/p>\n
The Lavantureux brothers cultivate their vineyards sustainably. They use plowing and natural grassing to preserve the biodiversity of the Chablis soil. The vines have a respectable average age of 60 years. The estate’s goal is to bring out the best of each terroir based on the specific characteristics of the soil and the vintage.<\/p>\n
Domaine Roland Laventureux is located in Lignorelles, in the Chablis region, halfway between Paris and Beaune. The vineyards are located in Chablis Premier Cru and Grand Cru parcels.<\/p>\n
The soils are predominantly clay-limestone. The wines are white and made from Chardonnay. They intensely express the minerality of the Chablis terroir.<\/p>\n
The Chablis from Domaine Roland Laventureux displays a luminous golden yellow color. If you give it a little air by shaking it, you can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy, nor like a liqueur on the side of the glass. This single-varietal French wine unfolds incredibly expressive notes of lemon, vineyard peaches, apricots, and mirabelle plums. They blend with hints of cinnamon, black tea, and oriental spices.<\/p>\n
Domaine Roland Lavantureux’s Chablis is wonderfully dry. This white wine is never coarse or lean, but rather rounded and silky. The finish of this age-friendly white wine captivates with a pleasant aftertaste.<\/p>\n
The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.<\/p>\n
After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the cellar. Here, they are sorted and gently pressed. Fermentation follows in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the Chablis is allowed to further mature on the lees for several months.<\/p>\n
