THE WINERY –\u00a0PRUNOTTO<\/a><\/h2>\n

Alfredo Prunotto founded his business in 1922 and was one of Piemonte’s most dynamic exporters until his retirement in 1956. The company passed then to Prunotto’s friend Beppe Colla, now a revered winemaker and one of the founding fathers of modern Piemonte. His defining moment was the decision in 1961 to bottle single vineyard (or Cru) wines from the finest sites; a practice that is now the norm in the region. Those wines were made from bought-in grapes, but in the 1990s the current owners (the Antinori’s of Tuscany), extended the Prunotto holdings including plots in the outstanding Bric Turot and Bussia vineyards.<\/p>\n

Today, the estate totals 50 hectares of vineyards in the best wine-producing areas of the Piemonte and has a wine-producing facility equipped with the most modern technology available, making Prunotto\u00a0one of the most important winemaking estates in the Piedmont region.<\/p>\n

BARBARESCO<\/a> BRIC TUROT<\/h2>\n

This balanced and pleasant Barbaresco is the result of a combination of factors: the vineyard\u2019s diversified exposure due to the shape of the \u201cbricco\u201d (the summit of a hill in local dialect), a specific clonal selection and aging in barrels of different capacities.<\/p>\n

-The history-<\/h3>\n

Bric Turot is one of Prunotto’s historic vineyards. Its name means ‘summit of a small hill’ and local producers have always called this small parcel “La Turota” or “La Torretta” (small tower) in local dialect due to its prominent geographic position.<\/p>\n

Immediately upon arrival in the cellar, grapes were destemmed and crushed. Maceration on the skins took place over a period of approximately 10 days at a temperature that did not exceed 30 \u00b0C (86 \u00b0F). Malolactic fermentation was completed before winter. The wine was aged in oak barrels of varying capacities for about 12 months. Bric Turot was then aged in the bottle for a year before being released.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Bric Turot is intensely garnet red in color, lively and bright. The nose expresses intense notes of violets and rose petals accompanied by hints of jam, mountain hay and spicy sensations. The enveloping palate is full bodied, harmonious, and velvety revealing intense balsamic notes.
