The porphyry and clay\u00a0<span class=\"xwhighlight\" data-hasqtip=\"0\">rich<\/span>\u00a0vineyards cover 28.5 hectares of Nebbiolo vines at the Alpine foothills of Monte Rosa, in steep, south facing slopes. True to the area\u2019s tradition, they prune and harvest by hand and make fine red wine using large oak casks for both fermentation and aging. In 2011 four Norwegian families, joined by their passion for wine and viticulture, bought the estate. The chief oenologist Enrico Fileppo ensures adherence to tradition with 30 years of Nervi winemaking experience and many award winning vintages.<\/p>\n<p>Erling Astrup tasted his first Nervi Molsino in 1995 while studying at Bocconi. The\u00a0<span class=\"xwhighlight\" data-hasqtip=\"1\">austere<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"xwhighlight\" data-hasqtip=\"2\">elegant<\/span>\u00a0Nebbiolo\u00a0<span class=\"xwhighlight\" data-hasqtip=\"3\">palate<\/span>\u00a0stuck with him and in 2011 the dream of owning his own Gattinara vineyard came true. He acquired a majority of Nervi and teamed up with Christopher Moestue who bought 25 per cent. Moestue is already an owner in Cornas in the Rh\u00f4ne Valley and Volnay in Burgundy, as well as an importer of fine wine to Norway.<\/p>\n<p>Today Giacomo Conterno estate is the brand new owner<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vinification: Gentle destemming and crushing, fermentation in truncated conical oak vats and cement vats at room temperature.<\/li>\n<li>Aging: Minimum 5 years in wood of capacities varying from 10 to 30 hl; brief passage in cement; 6-12 final months of bottle ageing.<\/li>\n<li>Ideal with risotto, red meats, roasts, lamb, game, aged cheeses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Features:<\/p>\n<p>Garnet with orange reflections.<\/p>\n<p>Overall enveloping smell,\u00a0<span class=\"xwhighlight\" data-hasqtip=\"0\">rich<\/span>\u00a0in character and\u00a0<span class=\"xwhighlight\" data-hasqtip=\"1\">finesse<\/span>\u00a0minerals. They feel herbs, rhubarb, red flowers, a poignant note ferrous dense and articulated.<\/p>\n<p>Taste inviting, with\u00a0<span class=\"xwhighlight\" data-hasqtip=\"2\">soft<\/span>\u00a0silky tannins.
