THE WINERY –\u00a0ELVIO COGNO<\/a><\/h2>\n

Elvio Cogno’s Winery produces the principle wines of the Langhe. The winery owns about fifteen hectares of vineyard property in Novello, one of eleven townships in the province of Cuneo in which Barolo DOCG production is allowed.
\nThe hills are world-renowned for their history, culture, and beauty, and they were recently recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage.
\nIn the footsteps of its founder Elvio Cogno, today Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore direct the winery with four generations of winemakers and vine growers, dedicated to obtaining excellence that begins with the unique terroir to create wines that are famous throughout the world for their elegance, texture, and balance.<\/p>\n

With four Barolo labels and eleven and a half hectares of vineyards in Ravera, Cogno is the most important producer of the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (MeGA) \u201cRavera.\u201d Ravera is the most well-known cru, or zone of vineyards, of Novello. It is recognized for producing wines that are able to withstand time while maintaining their aromas and freshness intact.<\/p>\n

BAROLO<\/a> BRICCO PERNICE<\/h2>\n

Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice, named after a small hill on which courting partridges build their nests, is the very latest wine from Cogno. The fruit of years and years of hard work, a desire that has come true. A project \u2014 a wine from a beautiful vineyard in Novello, in the most historic part of the Ravera cru, where the exceptional microclimate gives superb Barolo \u2014 dreamt of by Elvio and achieved by Valter.<\/p>\n

Wine making:<\/strong> in stainless steel, temperature-controlled, automatic pumping-over, post-fermentation maceration for 30 days with submerged cap
\nAging:<\/strong> 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels of 25-30 hl<\/p>\n

  • Intense notes<\/strong> of violet accompanied by a hint of damp soil, ripe red fruit and subtle spiciness.<\/li>\n
