TENUTA DELL’ORNELLAIA<\/a><\/h2>\n

For 700 years the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. The family has always looked to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany\u2019s terroir, being proud owners of some of the greatest vineyards in this region.<\/p>\n

They always seek to maintain the identity and autonomy of each property.<\/p>\n

ORNELLAIA, perceived as one of the world\u2019s iconic wineries, has flourished under the Frescobaldi family\u2019s ownership. It is just one of the estates owned by the family alongside ATTEMS (Friuli), MASSETO, DANZANTE, LUCE DELLA VITE and the six FRESCOBALDI Estates, Nipozzano, CastelGiocondo, Pomino, Ammiraglia, Castiglioni and Remole.<\/p>\n

-Philosophy-<\/h3>\n

Our production philosophy revolves around Ornellaia\u2019s obsession with excellence \u2013 at all levels. Every choice we make is of absolute importance and implies an all-consuming attention to detail. At no point in the production process are shortcuts allowed or tolerated, and this is how we succeed harvesting grapes that are of the very highest quality irrespective of the climatic conditions in that particular year.<\/p>\n

ORNELLAIA \u201cLa Proporzione\u201d (Proportion)<\/h2>\n

The character of Ornellaia 2020, the 15th edition of Vendemmia d\u2019Artista, was \u201cLa Proporzione\u201d (Proportion), which evokes the perfect balance between parts and the whole.
\nJoseph Kosuth was the artist chosen to interpret \u201cLa Proporzione\u201d.<\/p>\n

The American artist Joseph Kosuth is a leading figure and theorist of Conceptual Art. Questioning the definitions and conventional methods of art, Kosuth focused his research on language, striving to reveal the complexity of cultural codes in visual terms. Starting from the idea that a work of art is a tautology as a representation of the artist\u2019s wishes, he questions the very nature of art, preferring the ideational dimension of the work as opposed to the formal and productive aspects. Kosuth essentially worked on linguistic devices, such as quotations, translations, repetitions, contradictions and negations. The artist focused his attention on the word \u201cvino\u201d in different Indo-European languages, realizing a comparative tree of its diverse modalities.
\nThe history of the word is taken through the parallel transformations of linguistic communities and refers to a unity in a seeming multitude expressed through a morphology. This reframing is then juxtaposed with a quote by Vitruvius\u2019 masterpiece De Architectura, thus closing off the grammatical circle of the concept of proportion.<\/p>\n

The desire to nurture the Estate\u2019s exceptional qualities has shaped Ornellaia\u2019s philosophy since the beginning. Ornellaia is a cuv\u00e9e of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot and the faithful expression of unique terroir developed in harmony with nature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    \u201cWith its usual deep ruby red colour, Ornellaia 2020 stands out on the nose with ripe red fruits and delicate vanilla and gentle tobacco notes. Upon tasting, the wine reveals itself to be rounded and velvety, making an enjoyable and engaging first impression that entices for a second sip. The tannins are dense yet elegant and the finish proves to be savoury and enduring.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
